David Joseph Johnson, age 57, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at 4:20 p.m. at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. His death was a heart-felt tragedy, as a result of a massive hemorrhage of the brain.
David is survived by his loving wife, Diana Lin Johnson; brothers, William Charles Johnson and wife Patricia Katherine Johnson, Terrence Mark Johnson; three children, daughters, Sarah Ann Johnson, Lora Beth Johnson, and son Adam Johnson; grandson, Andrew Joseph Johnson.
David was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a great friend to all who knew him. His unconditional love and respect for others was unmatched and never went unnoticed.
Originally from St. Paul, MN, David grew up in Mendota Heights. His family eventually moved near St. Cloud, MN, where he graduated from Catherdral High School in 1971. David attended St. Cloud State University earning his Bachelor of Science and MBA degree in Business Management and Finance in 1975. David was also a member and past president of That Tau Chapter Delta Sigma Pi at St. Cloud State University.
David retired from the Company 3M after serving 31 years of service and was recognized by his colleagues within his industry as one of the most outstanding leaders in manufacturing, outsourcing management, contract supplier management and cost reduction. Over the years, he had several assignments in the United States and traveled all over the world many times over. When he retired, he decided to devote his time to relaxing with friends and family.
David lived an amazing life; he grew up fishing and boating on Wilkens Lake and water skiing on the St. Croix River. David then moved to Austin,TX where he continued boating on Lake Travis for recreation. David traveled with his wife Diana to places such as; Tahiti, Maui, St. Thomas and St. John’s, Costa Rica to see all of life’s wonders in the sea.
All that knew David, knew a man of character, honesty and sweetness with a profound sense of humor and a loving nature. Our loss is heaven’s gain. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his beautiful green eyes and sweet, sweet smile.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden\Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd in Austin, TX.
