David Alan Brock, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 31, 2015. He was a long time Christian counselor in the Austin area.
David was born on October 10th, 1947 to the late Glenn and Jean Brock. He immersed himself in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age and where he devoted most of his time and talents. David graduated from Abilene Christian College, then completed his Masters at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, TX. He began working for Child Protective Services in 1969 and worked there for 20 years. He then became the Program Director for the Genesis Unit at Shoal Creek and Charter Hospitals through Minirth-Meier, Tunnel and Wilson. Up until the day he joined our Heavenly Father, he and his wife Devorah shared a private practice.
David was blessed with a sweet and loving family. He helped raise his 2 children, Misha and Michael, with patience, discipline and the love of Christ. He taught his children many things. Most memories were made outdoors hunting, fishing, golfing camping, learning to ride bikes, playing basketball, along with many family ski vacations. From the very beginning, David dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to serve others and love Jesus. He continued this devotion and teaching to his 4 grandsons and granddaughter, often telling them how loved they are and how important they are in the eyes of God.
David and his wife Devorah shared a beautiful union of love, laughter and a hunger to help others. They immersed themselves in their church and Bible studies. They shared a love for dogs and have warmed their home and hearts with the love of several. They also shared a Christian counseling practice. It was there that he made deep connections and personal ties with those who trusted him with their private lives. David will be dearly missed by his clients who were so much more to him than his work, they were truly an important part of his life.
David was an counselor at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken and always had time to answer a question or give advice. Although he loved golf, people were his priority. He sowed into the lives of others. He was humble and content, joyful and giving, serving and loving....all the things Jesus tells us to be. He was a man after God’s own heart and that was evident through his life.
David filled a room with his presence, his joy and his boisterous laugh. David was a selfless and thoughtful giver, not only with gifts (although his grandsons will attest to his great gift giving skills!) but more importantly, with his time and attention. He was gifted at making his loved ones feel important and special.
David proved also to be a gentle man from early on, teaching his young daughter to dance by standing on his feet, and throughout his life as he shared his delight in his family and friends. David will be deeply missed by his loved ones who, celebrate the fact that he is now with his Creator.
He is survived by his wife, Devorah; his children Misha Jennings (Ted) and Michael Brock (Tika); his grandchildren Carter, Hudson, Griffin, Brady, and Vivie Brock; his brothers Tim Brock (Linda) and Greg Brock (Donna), and his sister Judy Price (Don). He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Jean Brock and his brother, Jeff Brock.
A memorial for David will be held at Central Baptist Round Rock, 301 Lake Creek Pkwy, Round Rock, Texas on Sunday, November 8th, at 4pm.
A graveside service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park Cemetery, 7100 Crowley, Ft. Worth, Texas on Monday, November 9th, at 2pm.
David wanted the legacy he left behind to be on the importance of family. The memories he has left with his grandchildren are precious but he also wished to be an impact on them as they grow and mature. In honor of David and this legacy, donations can be made to an education fund for his grandchildren through Wells Fargo Bank, Acct#580806614.
