Curtis lived in the Austin area all of his life. He married Virginia Knox on June 21, 1945 in Manor, Texas. Together, they were active members of the Church of Christ for over 60 years and included several congregations in the area. Their most recent membership is with the Central Church of Christ in Pflugerville.
Curtis worked for many years at the University of Texas in numerous roles and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, tinkering with automobiles, playing dominoes and dining with friends, and fishing most of all.
Curtis was preceded in death by Virginia Hennig, his wife of nearly 68 years, in 2013; and his son, Gary Hennig in 2011.
He is survived by daughter-in-law, Beverly Hennig of Killeen; 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Sunday, the 30th of March 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 31th of March, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Elgin City Cemetery, Elgin, Texas.
