She was welcomed by her parents, Orel Dunn and Ada Mae Dunn. Her two sisters Nelda Mae Lee and Kathleen Moore were both in high school and they were delighted to have a beautiful baby sister. She was a joy to everyone that knew her. Her daddy said "it's a good thing we had a girl so she can help her mother when she is older." And that is what she really did. She was a big help to both parents in their last years of life.
Connie went to school in Sweetwater, Abilene and Anson, Texas where she graduated with the National Honor Society. Connie accepted the Lord and was baptized in the Baptist Church.
After High school graduation, Connie moved to Austin. She lived a short time with her oldest sister Nelda and Vernon. During that time State Farm Insurance company was opening their new office on North IH35 where she applied for a job and was hired. She worked at State Farm over 40 years until her retirement. After retirement she worked part-time at H&R block during tax season.
She joined AARP chapter 2700 and was very active in the travel club and headed up numerous AARP trips all over the United States and Canada.
She met Jim McBroom one evening with friends at the New West Dance Hall and have been together ever since, over 30 years. She has one step daughter Abby Johnson and her husband Eric Johnson. Abby and Eric's daughter is Connie's most beloved step granddaughter Kendall. She loved her with all her heart.
Connie also has many nieces, nephews, "adopted" nieces and nephews and their children who all love her so much. She was generous with her love and time with them all.
Connie was so friendly, loving, generous and ready for fun with all her numerous friends from high school, early days in Austin, State Farm, AARP and H&R Block.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00-6:00pm with the remembrance service at 6:00pm at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
