Colton was born in the spring in Austin, Texas. At the time of his passing, he was a junior at the University of Texas at Dallas, studying geology and environmental science. He was an accomplished student, musician, athlete and sailor, who loved the outdoors and everything in it.
Colton was known for lighting up a room and helping everyone feel included. He was an incredible listener and supporter. He was also FUN, full of positive energy and gifted in bringing laughter and joy to all situations. Colton had a magnificent smile and easy manner that always made others feel comfortable. He was a true extrovert who loved people and making friends.
He is remembered for his incredible kindness and compassion, his encouragement of peers, and the many ways he contributed to his community. Colton spent summers teaching children how to sail, volunteered with people with physical and intellectual disabilities, ran for charity and raised money for the environment. He exhibited leadership through activities with his fraternity Chi Phi, which embraces the principles of Truth, Honor, and Personal Integrity.
Colton was a cross country and track runner, avid backcountry hiker, and enjoyed quiet moments in connection with nature. He had a particular fondness for birds and pollinators and chose his course of study to help understand and protect our majestic planet.
Colton loved being on the water, skiing with Dad, fishing with stepdad, exploring rock formations and climbing mountains, having first summited Emory Peak with Mom. He also enjoyed anime and video games and had finally beat Minecraft with a friend.
As a guitar player and keyboardist, Colton regularly made music as an outlet for creativity and expression. He was known to encourage others to learn to play and compose for their own enrichment.
Colton was endlessly curious, open to alternate viewpoints, and always interested in profound and meaningful discussions. All while being able to crack a joke about whatever was happening in Life. He will be deeply missed by his adoring family, many, many friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his mother Tanya, father Bill, stepfather Michael, a grandmother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rest in peace Dear One, you are loved beyond measure.
