Clara Mae Hamilton Barnett 89, of Austin, Texas moved to her Heavenly home on May 10, 2022, at 6:16 am. She was born on August 9, 1932, to Father Albert Avery and Mother Nora Meredith McDonald. She attended the Gospel Light House Church for most of her Christian life and then became a member of the Austin Eastview Church of God until she was placed in a nursing facility in Bartlett, Texas. She was dedicated to her Lord and Savior and always said that when it was time for her to be called to her Heavenly home she would be ready and she definitely meant every word. She was 1 of 5 sisters who she loved dearly and loved sharing her memories of her childhood with her sisters. She worked as a Caregiver for mentally handicapped adult men with the Travis State School in Austin, Texas for 32 years at the time of her retirement. The residents she worked with absolutely loved her and cared so much for her, so much so that most of them called her "Momma", this was not just a job for her, she truly loved her residents and they knew it. She was the mother of 7 children Debbie, Sandra, Mary Grace, Jeanette, Christine, Carl James, and Danny. She was the Grandmother of 24 Grandchildren, 47 Great Grandchildren and 37 Great-Great Grandchildren for a grand total of 108 Grandchildren, in her eyes it did not matter if they were Great Grandchildren or Great-Great Grandchildren, they were all hers and she was so proud of each and every one of them. If one of her children or grandchildren strayed in any way of trouble, she prayed them through it without passing judgment, she just loved ALL of us. Praying about everything was her solution to EVERYTHING!
She is proceeded in death by her Father Albert Avery and Mother Nora Meredith McDonald, her 1st Husband of 42 years, Howard Young Hamilton, 6 of her 7 children, Jeanette Hamilton, Sandra Gail Warren, Christine Bradford Nelson, Mary Grace McCoy, Carl James Hamilton and Howard Daniel Hamilton - "Danny". She is also proceeded in death by her sister Myrtle Conlee and her 2nd Husband of 16 years Rev. Paul Ted Barnett and her Grandson "Skooter" and Great Great Grand-Daughter Destiny Faith Franklin.
She is survived by her Daughter Debbie Daugherty and her Husband James "Jody" Daugherty of Bartlett, Texas, "Daughter" in-law Gina Hamilton of Liberty Hill, Texas and Son in law Kenneth Warren of Del Valle, Texas, Sisters Elsie McCutcheon, Betty White, and Rosie Whited and 23 Grandchildren, 47 Great Grandchildren and 36 Great-Great Grandchildren.
The things in life she loved were "fishing" (being married to Howard Hamilton, she had to love it), she enjoyed gardening, puzzles, raising her goats, attending church and of course, reading her bible.
"Grandma Clara" was a very special woman who truly was a gift from God. To know her was to Love her, Thank you Lord for bringing her into our lives and the many lives she impacted through her caring heart and gentle soul. Thank You, Lord, for blessing her richly and I pray she knew how much she was loved, and appreciated, and how special she was and always will be to her daughter, sisters, and her grandchildren. She was the kindest and most caring person to everyone. She was very giving and would help anyone that needed help, she was always willing to pray for you and anyone who needed it no matter if you were a stranger or family member, it did not matter to her. She had the softest and warmest hands that God could have given anyone, much like her heart.
Debbie her Daughter would like to express her appreciation and her love to her Sister in Law Gina Hamilton for always being there for her and grandma. Grandma Clara always loved Gina as her OWN Daughter, she meant the world to Grandma and she WILL ALWAYS mean the world to Debbie, she is so thankful for everything and always being there for Grandma whether it was a phone call or a visit to see Grandma. Grandma always loved to share the memories she had with Gina and about how they were always running the roads together, even if it was just to go pay bills!!!
We the Family would like to express our gratitude, appreciation, and love to the following caregivers at Will-O-Bell Nursing Facility, Rochelle, Nikki, Kiara, Ashley, Maryland, Scotty, Jeremy, Luis, Lee, and James! We would also like to say Thank You to Gwen, Francis and Lisa with "Gentle Transitions Hospice Care" for the utmost wonderful care and kindness you showed our Mom and our Grandmother.
