Chris was a 2001 graduate from Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. In 2007, Chris graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Management and Marketing. He was pursuing a professional certification in financial planning at the University of Texas at Austin. Chris was a devoted member of Hill Country Bible Church in Austin, Texas, where he served in the financial planning and young adults ministry. Chris worked in management at UPS and, at the same time, he worked for Frost Bank in Austin, Texas.
Chris was an amazing son, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, friend, and, most of all an extraordinary servant of God. He loved to study the Bible, draw, watch movies, and be with his family. Chris received the special gift of a heart transplant in 2001 at the Mayo Clinic.
He is survived by his parents Rose, Stan Spears and Gilbert Rodriguez of Lubbock, Texas; his wife and best friend Laura Rodriguez of Austin, Texas; two brothers Daniel and Joey Spears; and two sisters Jennifer and Jessica Spears of Lubbock, Texas. Chris is also survived by his grandparents Carmen Servin, Linda Santos Alvarez, and Joy and Gailon Spears; nephew Lyric Spears, niece Mykah Graham; brother in law Jake Davidson of Austin, Texas; as well as a host of relatives and friends too numerous to name.
Chris' family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Seton Hospital of Austin for the exceptional care they provided to Chris.
Public viewing will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 RR 620 North, Austin, TX 78750. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seton Heart Transplant Fund, 1301 West 38th Street, #514, Austin, Texas 78705 in memory of Christopher Michael Rodriguez.
