Missouri native and long-time Texas resident Charles (Chuck) A. Johnson, II died in Austin on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at St. David's Cornerstone following a lengthy illness. Mr. Johnson was retired recently from PTI, St. Louis, an international consulting firm to the semiconductor industry. Mr. Johnson received his early education in El Paso. After earning a degree in Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Johnson continued studies in Anthropology and Geology at The University of Kansas where he was awarded a Master's Degree. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Johnson was born July 16, 1940, in St. Louis, MO. Predeceased by his parents Carl A. and Sallie Herman Johnson, he is survived by wife Ann Irwin, his sister Kirstin Apodaca, and a niece and nephew, Michelle and Victor (Tray) Apodaca. Chuck is remembered by his friends and family as a man of honor, kindness and generosity, and as a gifted teacher - a gentleman and a scholar. He had a deep appreciation for music. He had patience to explain the mysterious and an ability to perceive humor in most all circumstances. Since their meeting over a spilled pot of tea, Chuck's abiding delight was his wife Ann. A memorial service will be conducted in Austin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Weed Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar.
