Charles Steven Gravitt, age 66, passed away May 28, 2018 in Austin, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1952 in Macon, Georgia. He was the oldest of three children to parents Charles Stanley Gravitt and Virginia Lee Gravitt.
"Doc" started his radio career in Macon, Georgia, an occupation that he devoted his entire life to. After graduating high school in 1970 and joined the US Air Force in 1974 and the worked with the US Armed Forces Radio and Television Service in Thailand, followed by positions in Alaska and Hawaii, before moving to Taiwan in 1989, where he worked for ICRT radio. After leaving Taiwan in 2002, he worked at MET 107 in Bangkok, Thailand before returning back to the United States.
One of his favorite activities was a "Caller" for square dancing, and he enjoyed calling from Georgia, to Hawaii, to Taiwan, and then in Texas, both in San Angelo and Austin. He enjoyed reading and working on his computer. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature.
He preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia Gravitt. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lee of Austin, Texas; sisters, Kelley Kazura and Ray Kazura of San Angelo, Texas, and Paige Meeks and Lanier Meeks of Warner Robins, Georgia; three children; two grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
