Mrs. Carole Anne Alvarez passed away peacefully at her home in Austin, Tx on August 20, 2013 at the age of 69. Carole was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 23, 1944 to Lt. Col. Alvin G. Kouts & Shirley Elinor Bell, as the eldest of two children.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Msgt. Baltazar G. Alvarez and her four children; Candace M. Nunez, Michael A. Alvarez, William B. Alvarez and Laurie A. Alvarez, whom she loved so very dearly. She is survived by one sibling, Robert A. Kouts; eight granddaughters, one grandson and six great-grandchildren.
She struggled for many years with various ailments and it took a large team of strong and patient caregivers to assist the family in her care. “Mom” loved each and every one of you very dearly. The family sends their sincerest appreciation and gratitude for everything you’ve done and especially all those special times of comfort you offered her out of the love of your heart.
As a young girl and teenager, Carole traveled often as the daughter of an Air Force military officer from all over the United States to various countries overseas. She enjoyed horseback riding, participating in the Girl Scouts and attending various camps.
In 1965, Carole married her husband Baltazar, an enlisted Air Force airman, and together they began their family and travels. Carole worked various office jobs during the family’s travels with the Air Force across the United States and overseas. In her last years of work, before retiring due to disability, she worked and enjoyed doing medical transcription work in Frankfurt, Germany and here in Austin, Tx at the Browns School.
Carole had several interests and creative outlets that she excelled in. She loved to make and decorate cakes for special occasions, for friends and family members and was brilliant at it. She also loved to crosstitch for others and spent hours picking out the perfect kit to make, then spent hours of making the perfect piece and finally mounting the finalized perfect piece in the perfect frame. She always wanted everything she did to be the best it could be and her talent, in regards to cakes and crosstitching, far exceeded most!!
Family and Friends may pay their respects from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the funeral home.
