Carol was 72 years old and was born in Houston, Texas on March 13, 1950. She graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1968 and the University of Texas in 1972 with a Bachelor of Journalism.
Carol married Bobby Mann on November 16, 1974, and they were married for 27 years and raised two children, Michelle and Michael, together. Later in life, they had a lovely and loving second act as friends and co-grandparents.
Carol was at various times a title company owner, a real estate broker, agent, and educator. Prior to the COVID pandemic, was a devoted volunteer every Friday at Trinity Center, a faith-based organization conducting programs that serve the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the poor and homeless in Austin.
Carol was kind; she was fun; she was optimistic; she was so, so stubborn. She loved Vermont, antiques, reading, Motown music, a sly cocktail slipped to her by her son-in-law, Longhorn sports, her beloved golden retrievers (Gracey and Hope), her children, and most especially being a Nana. She would sit for hours watching PAW Patrol if that’s what the day called for, and she wasn’t afraid to risk getting a cold if that meant getting extra time with them.
The love she gave was palpable, and it will live forever.
Carol is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Witte Kamas, and her father, Thomas Kamas. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Mann Adams and son-in-law R.J. Adams; son, Michael Mann; grandchildren, Camille & Archer Adams; brother, James Kamas, and sister, Susan Kamas Vonderheid; and nieces and nephews Nicolas Kamas, Rebecca Kamas, Brooke Vonderheid, Austin Vonderheid, Nicole Vonderheid, and Noah Kamas. Other loving friends and family members include: Bobby Mann, the extended Mann family, the extended Kamas family, Heather & Addy Turnbull, and many other friends in Texas and Vermont.
A service will be held to celebrate Carol’s life at St. David’s Episcopal Church on 301 East 8th Street in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, March 22nd at 2:30 PM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Carol’s name to Trinity Center https://www.trinitycenteraustin.org/.
Rest in peace, our dear Nana.
