CAROL SUE KEATING Carol Sue Keating was born on February 19th of 1947 to Wilhelm and Barnnie Broberg in Houston, Texas. From childhood Carol had a vivacious personality and love of people. As a child she danced, played the piano and was a girl scout. Her outgoing personality and passion for fun sometimes got her into trouble at school, but would turn out to be one of her endearing attributes. After school in Houstons Spring Branch High, class of 65, Carol graduated from Texas Womens University with a BS in Nursing and began a career as an RN, caring for those in need and supplementing her family. An active member in Lord of Joy Lutheran Church in Houston, Carol dedicated time to the church food pantry. Carol left many cherished memories to all who hold her dear. She took great pride in being a mother, wife, and remarkable homemaker. Her passion for keeping a meticulous house and personally landscaping her Houston home, along with her love of water, beaches, and outdoor recreation were only a few traits that set Carol apart as an active and thoughtful woman. On Sunday, August 8, 2004, Carol was freed from this world after a heroic 2-year battle with cancer. Carol is survived by Joseph J. (Jerry) Keating, husband and life-long love of 37 years, son Doug Keating, daughter Rebecca Garlett, and son-in-law Frank Garlett, all of Austin; mother Barnnie Broberg-Allison, sister Norma Taylor, brother-in-law Scott Taylor, all of San Antonio; and many devoted friends and extended family members. Her father, Wilhelm F. Broberg precedes her in death. All who knew Carol felt her strength and love of life. We are blessed with her everlasting love, powerful touch, and concern for others. She will be dearly missed as a loving mother, entertainer, extraordinary homemaker, devoted wife, friend, sister, daughter and caregiver. The reach of her love and devotion extend far beyond her family and physical life. We know that Carol is watching over us and is alive in us now and forever.
