He was born in Atlanta, GA on September 29, 1922 to Dr. Paul Eugene Lineback and Bessie Ingham Lineback. After graduating from Boys High School, he enrolled at Emory University, graduating in 1943 with a Batchelor of Arts Degree in History. In 1946, while on active duty with the U.S. Army, he received his M.D. degree from Emory University School of Medicine. There he met Dorothy Anne Darnall, daughter of his hospital commander. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, 1950. In 1965, he retired from active military service. Among his many Army service awards was the Army Commendation Medal. He then relocated with his family to Austin. He established a private practice as a board certified ear, nose, and throat physician, dedicated to caring for his patients, many of whom later became personal friends. Dr. Lineback was active in the Masons and was a Past Master of Austin Masonic Lodge No. 12 where he received the Golden Trowel Award for exceptional service in 2001. The most important item of his life however, was his family. He truly enjoyed family gatherings which he always enlivened with warmth and humor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Colonel and Mrs. Joseph R. Darnall; his brother, Dr. Merrill Lineback; and his sister, Ruth Lineback von Arx.
