Everyone loved Blake, from his infectious smile and hearty laugh to his uncanny sensitivity to helping others. He loved his wife, family, and friends more than imaginable. He was the youngest of the Owen "mafia" and even at age 5 when Blake talked, people listened. From his contagiously adventurous spirit and the power to light up the life of his wife, family, friends, and many others, his open heart and vulnerability made him an instant friend. For Lauren, Blake rounded her square corners.
Blake was born on January 9, 1986, and always liked that he had the only winter birthday in such a large family. He graduated from Westlake High School and Texas State University with a degree in Communications - a natural for him. For the past 7 years he was immensely successful as a sales executive at IBM. In February 2017, he married Lauren Tuttle, the girl of his dreams. More than anything, he loved Lauren, his family, his friends, the blue skies and the spectacular sunsets of the Colorado Mountains. He also cherished the time he spent boating on Lake Travis. The world will be missing a bright light with Blake's passing and our hearts will have an empty place without him here.
Blake is survived by his wife, Lauren Tuttle Owen; his parents, Howard & Karen Owen; his siblings Jeff, Steven, Scott & Tiffany along with their spouses; and nieces and nephews, Ethan, Kalen, Laney, Riley, Westyn, Liam, Brazos, Carson and Amelia. We have faith that he will find peace with his grandparents and niece, Averie.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10:30 AM, at Westlake Presbyterian Church at 7127 Bee Caves Road, Austin, Texas 78746.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Blake through donations to the Blake Owen Foundation for Mental Wellness through the GoFundMe page setup for this purpose.
