COOK, Billie Florence Hanseler, 90, retired employee of the U. S. Department of Defense, passed away September 17, 2011 at Longhorn Village. Born on January 2, 1921 to Gertrude and Willie Hanseler, Billie was a lifelong resident of Austin. She married the love of her life, Terrell Samuel Cook, on October 28, 1944. A member of Saint David's Episcopal Church, Billie was a longtime volunteer at the Church's Next to New Consignment and Thrift Shop. Family and friends loved and treasured Billie for her irrepressible zest for life, sense of humor, and her loving, kind, and generous spirit. She is survived by sister Peggy Arbon of Austin, brother Tommy Joe Arnold of Maumelle, Arkansas, nieces Diane Cook-Lee of Georgetown, Leecia Rad of Portland, Oregon, Tara L. Weaver of Austin, and Christi Pilkington of Little Rock, Arkansas; nephews Gareth W. Cook of Austin, William Arbon of Johnson City, David R. Cook of Round Rock, Marc Arbon of San Antonio, and Donald M. Cook of Dallas; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the evening until
six o’clock in the evening, Wednesday, the 21st of September at Cook-Walden Funeral Home; 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin TX 78752. Graveside Services will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, Thursday, the 22nd of September at Cook-Walden Memorial Hills Cemetery; 14501 North IH-35 Pflugerville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and other customary remembrances, the family suggests donations in Billie's name to the Music Program at Saint David's Episcopal Church, 301 East 8th Street, Austin, Texas 78701.
