William Lloyd Skelton, age 65, died on June 28, 2011 in Austin, TX. following a motorcycle accident. He was born in Hallettsville, TX. on March 31, 1946 to Donald F. and Bertha Clay (Nolen) Skelton. Bubba graduated from the University of Texas in 1968 with a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics. After graduation he moved to Houston where he worked for NASA and served in the Army Reserves. He taught math in Hallettsville, TX. from 1973 until 1977. He had various careers before moving to Austin where he became a CPA and a Travis County Auditor. He eventually returned to his love of teaching, retiring in 2006. He married the love of his life, Marie Taylor, on June 25, 1996 and adopted her daughter, Sarah. Bubba always lived life to the fullest. He loved hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and traveling to cooler climates. We will miss his stories, his dry sense of humor and his unique slant on life. But most of all, we will miss his wonderful bear hugs. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nita Eileen Skelton. Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Marie Taylor; daughter, Sarah Taylor; sister, Peggy Kubicek; nephews and nieces, Cody and Ashly Kubicek and Katy and Chris Ranly; and 3 great nephews, Cole, Braxton, and Brody. A memorial service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 3rd of July 2011 at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, TX.
