Barbara Lee Holland, 81, died July 25, 2012 surrounded by family at her home in Austin, TX. She was born April 29, 1931 to Henry Barnes & Virginia Estelle Woods in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Louise Holland and husband of 45 years, Jennings Clay Holland.
Barbara retired from TX Dept. of Public Safety as a Uniform Crime Reporter and volunteered over 2100 hours to Austin Police Monitors. Barbara was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church of Austin.
Barbara is survived by two children Diana Lynn Holland of Austin and Clay Barnes Holland and wife Sharon of Elgin, TX. She was known as “Mema” to many including grandson and wife, Ryan Jennings and Tracy Holland of Pflugerville, TX and granddaughter Kodi Louise Holland-Canales; Two great grandchildren Chase Jennings Holland and Kayla Michelle Holland; Two step-great grandchildren Gage and Kaitlynn Troxell; Sister, Jeanette Renick of Pearland, TX and many nieces and extended families.
Mema believed a hug is the shortest distance between friends and family.
In lieu of flowers tribute may be made in her honor to Alpha-1 Association, 2937 SW 27 Avenue, Suite 106, Miami, FL 33133.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Saturday, the 28th of July 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at half past four o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 29th of July 2012, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 30th of July 2012, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
