Ann Sims Austin Ann Sims Austin, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2004 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E.R. Sims who were missionaries in Cuba at the time of her birth. Dr. Sims was Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas. She grew up in Austin, Texas and attended Austin High School and graduated from the University of Texas. She married Edward Wallace Austin, a career Army Colonel on September 3, 1938. This led them to travel to many countries during his long career. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. She was the first hospital librarian in Austin, volunteered at the public library and was a Robin at St. David Hospital. She cherished her friendship with the extended family from the University Presbyterian Church where she has been a member since 1926. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Bagley and Elizabeth Robinson. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Wallace Austin; her brother Elmer Richard Sims of Hereford, Texas; children, Elizabeth Guntharp, Stephen Austin, Margaret Haggstrom, and Cynthia Wilson; grandchildren, Courtney, Amy, Justin, Heather and Myai; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Austin and Lauren. Funeral services will be held at the University Presbyterian Church on Saturday the 23rd of October 2004 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. San Williams. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
