Deep and cool, that was Suzanne. I knew Suzi since we were 5. I'm crushed at her passing, privileged to have known her. Love.

Like Bob Landry's memory, I, too, was late in catching up on the news of Suzanne's passing.  Below is from a note I sent to Suzanne's brother MichaeI.

"I heard last week from Gord Copp about Suzanne. Very sad. Her spirit lives on in all of those she befriended.
 
Please pass along my condolences to your parents and the rest of your family.
 
The picture below was taken in Toronto in 2009 when Jill was in town.  As Suzanne liked to do, she chased down old friends for some social time.  From left to right are Scott Seon, Mark Charuk, Fred Leznoff, Jill Bentley, myself and Suzanne.

I just heard about Suzanne’s passing the other night while out with friends Gord Copp, Fred Leznoff, Dave Marshall and Dave Tiffin, all friends of Suzanne.  Although we’ve lost touch over the years it was such a shock to hear of her passing.  We had so many fun times together  during high school.  I would like to pass on our heart felt condolences to the family and friends of Suzanne.

My sincere condolences to the Hill family. 

Suzanne was my first, very best friend. 

We navigated kindergarten together in smocked dresses and hairdos coifed to precision. Endless hours were spent playing the game that sees your red-white-blue ball inserted into the end of an old nylon stocking; of course double-dutch was on our agenda, while jumpsies took us late into the  summer evenings until mothers had to called us in for bedtime. If not having a scallywag moment or savouring (when lucky enough), one of Mrs. Hill's always warm homemade chocolate chip cookies, my first best buddy and I were simply on a mission to explore the next thing! Suzanne the more confident of the two of us often lead the way, and I happily followed. 

Time and distance eventually separate us, yet I did have the opportunity to tell her what she meant to me all those many years ago. 

So may I thank you again my dear friend, for those many precious moments shared during our most tender years. Do gather your much needed rest now, for the journey continues and there is much more to be done.

To the Hill Family, Suzanne's friends and loved ones everywhere - what a great loss. 

Suzanne - full of love, laughter and plain and simple humanity. I believe our paths first crossed at Zion Heights and extended to AYJ.  Thanks to 'the gals' (Jill, Susan, Tisha, Brenda, Gaye, Shari  ... oodles more) ... our friendship carried on over the years and in spite of the miles that separated old souls and friends. 

Your spirit will be alive in a smile, a hug, a quirky moment,  a 'Suzanne like glance, glare or comment' - we will all feel it - and when we do, let us all remember and smile. 

Thank you for all your love and laughter. For keeping things just plain and simple and in spite of all  you faced over the years. 

A candle will burn for you in Calgary.  
I hope we can reunite and celebrate again in your honour at the Jolly Miller.

A number of years ago Suzanne made it her mission to have a reunion for all who attended Zion Heights and AY Jackson. Along with Chris Rolls (who got the lists from the school) we divided up the work to see who we could find. An entire committee sorted out every detail in order to have the Miller Reunion. Suzanne was a master in getting together a team of friends to find everyone and invite them. We were 50 years old at the time. I took many pictures that night, and we all had such a great time!

She was laugh out loud funny, and you could always depend on her. She had so many wonderful friends. Truly loved. Suzanne you will be missed. My condolences to the family.

I met suzie the first day of kindergarten.  We shared alot of friends and memories.  Best person to go to for advice, she gave it to you and she was usually right.  Lunches and long afternoons in the garden were time well spent. We loved our wine and whining lol. She was such a big part of why we are all in contact, for that I am forever grateful.  

I am so sorry to hear that Suzanne has passed away .My condolences go out to the entire Hill Family at this time of loss.She was a wonderful Lady with a real zest for life, and I will cherish the fantastic memories from our friendship .

I was truly saddened first of all to hear that Squeeze was so sick and then more so on her passing. We had a lot of laughs, good times and even  shared a few glasses of wine, back when we worked on Bay St. We created memories that will last a life time. I may not have seen her in a few years but Squeeze will always be in my heart! And it is also a comfort in a way to know that she won't be alone, she will have her BFF Connie with her!  My heartfelt condolences to the family. May she rest in peace.

My heartfelt condolences to Peachie & Marv and the entire Hill Family.  Suzanne was a lifelong friend who always brought joy, laughter, creativity and her own personal exuberance to each encounter.   Her strength was undeniable but her compassion, kindness and terrific sense of humour will live on in my fondest memories forever.  Rest in peace my friend.
