Dear Mrs. Ogden, Robert and Andrea and family,

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Ogden's passing. 
I have very many memories in my mind - as he was a quite and soft-spoken presence throughout my whole life.
My earliest one is in your previous home. It's more of a flash - we must have been gathered for a birthday as so many of my memories are of beautiful bithday parties, elegantly hosted in your home. Andrea - you were hiding behind your dad and he "introduced us". Later he showed us his railroad set up and I was amazed!  Could that have been when you and I were 3?
I also remember your old cottage. A walk along a side road and the trees smelling of pine needles in the sun. We got to a mossy ridge and there were a lot of little toads. None of the other adults seemed very interested, but your dad was! Andrea - I think we were perhaps 5?
Then I remember the polite, shy conversations your dad and I would occasionally have. So, so different from my dad, eh? Never probing but a gentle curiousity. And as I got older, I could see his brief, comments often veiled a longer conversation - you could know where he stood without all the bluster.  Your family is all so intelligent and I know Mr. Ogden had intelligence (and tact!) to spare.
Mostly though, I remember the wonderful care he and Mrs. Ogden (and Robert) took of your home and garden - the kind of lovely attention I really appreciate so much now. I know it must have been the same care that went into the projects he did in his early career. Each lovely choice - either practical or beautiful. Your family has been way ahead of the times on that front (I'm thinking of all the minimalist, Marie-Kondo talk these days). 
Robert you remind me of him in many ways.
I will remember Mr. Ogden as a handsome, elegant, quiet man, with excellent taste and a quiet chuckle. He had informed opinions on things and listened more than he talked.
He will be missed.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Bob - he surely lived a long and wonderful life and was loved by his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.  Sending my love and thoughts to you at this sad time.
