It is with great sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of Herbert Warren Foster, 72, of Whitchurch-Stouffville. "Warren" unexpectedly came to rest at the Toronto General Hospital Intensive Care Unit on Wednesday October 2, 2024 after complications related to his recent double lung transplant. We would like to thank the transplant teams at Toronto General for their care as we navigated through his transplant journey as a family.
Warren was born in Toronto, raised in Scarborough, and spent summers north of the city at Musselmans Lake, where he eventually moved to raise his family. He never forgot his Scarborough roots as he spent almost 30 years serving and protecting the very community he grew up in as Police Constable at 42 division with the Toronto Police Service. Simultaneously Warren chose to serve his local community for more than 20 years as a Volunteer Fire Captain at the Whitchurch - Stouffville Fire and Emergency Services. After Warren's retirement he loves spending time with his family and friends, traveling to Florida, improving his golf game, Argo games on the television and watching his grandchildren excel at their passions of hockey, dance, and drama.
Warren was an incredible and loving husband to Linda (Elliott), devoted father to Christina and husband Craig Ryan, Michelle and husband Anthony Spagnoli. Proud "Grampie" to grandchildren Ethan, Erin and Sydney, step-grandfather to Ethan S. respected brother to Wayne and wife Marilynn Foster, Wanda and husband Gerry Davey. Brother-in-law to Terry and wife Donna Elliott, Bruce and wife Gloria Elliott. Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family's fondest memories of Warren are summer Sundays around the pool with the grandchildren, coaching years of softball with his daughters, and road trips to Nova Scotia.
Words cannot express how Warren will be missed by his family and friends. Thank you for all your kind words and memories. They are greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life for Warren will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 1 - 4 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G6W8.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Herbert's memory may be made to Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Autism Ontario
