David Winton Shatford

Dave is lovingly remembered by his wife, Vallee (Chantler), married 55 years and his children, Jeff (Ivy), Jenny (Michael Goulet), Joanne (Andy Virtue) and his wonderful grandchildren, Sarah, Alyssa, Ethan, and Austin (Jenny and Michael), Christopher, Cameron, Curtis, Caleb, and Clayton (Joanne and Andy). Also survived by his niece Leigh Sears and nephew Brad Sears (Heather and their daughter Lennon), nephew Craig Smith (Charlotte and Olivia), nephew Colin Smith (Kelly and sons, Ryan and Daniel). Dave was predeceased by his Father, Winton, his Mother, Mildred (Wood) and sister, Carol Sears.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 8th, 2023 at the Alliston Alliance Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider a donation in David’s name to the Alliston Alliance Church.

Dave was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and graduated from Nova Scotia Technical College with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1964. He spent 30 years of his business career with Imperial Oil Limited in various positions in Toronto, Ontario and Houston, Texas. He retired from CCL Industries in 1997 after almost 5 years of service. Being born in Halifax, Dave was an avid fisherman and had many great summers in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. Dave had a quick wit and great one liners that everyone enjoyed. Dave’s passions were traveling, including many cruises and a trip to Israel, conservative political commentary and above all he was a devoted and caring husband, father of 3 and grandfather of 9. His family was always his top priority and if someone was in need, Dave was always the first to help. May he rest in peace with the Lord.

A Celebration of Life for David will be held Saturday, April 8th, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Alliston Alliance Church, 648 Victoria St. E, Alliston, ON L9R 1K1. Start time will be 1:00 p.m. sharp.
