Lucas Gomez, 73, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on January 20, 2022. He was born in El Romerillo, Zacatecas, Mexico to Natividad Gomez Quirarte and Maria del Carmen Garcia Duran on October 18, 1948. Lucas was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Lucas migrated to United States as a young man and lived in Oregon, Los Angeles, and Colorado where he settled permanently with his family.
Lucas was the man with the greenest grass on the block, and his flower beds were beautiful, growing everything from roses to carnations, tomatillos, and everything in between. His fruit trees were also amazing. He loved Dodgers baseball and Chivas soccer, and you could always catch him listening to or watching one or the other. He took pride in his handywork and being a hard worker. He was known to load up his truck with his children, nieces, and nephews to take them to the park for a friendly game of baseball. He had a keen sense of humor and nobody was safe from his teasing not even his wife. He was very involved with his family and was someone you could always count on. He made friends everywhere he went and there wasn't a soul that met him who did not leave better than they were before.
Lucas was also a devout Catholic, and he used his faith many times to elevate his family. He was married to Adelaida and together they had five children: Nancy, Jerry, Elisa, Samuel, and Karina. Their family grew with the addition of grandchildren: Isabelle, Alessandra, Enrique, Adelai and Adaly. He is also survived by 14 of his siblings. Lucas is preceded in death by his sister, Petra, and parents.
A viewing will be held for Lucas on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4-6PM with a Rosary to follow at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 10am at St. Therese Catholic Church. Lucas will be laid to rest at Olinger Eastlawn Cemetery following his Mass.
