Loran Francis Billinger, born May 16, 1944, in Victoria, Kansas, was the beloved seventh child of Eleanor Bieker Billinger and Alfred Billinger. He is predeceased by siblings: Vera May Meier, Mary Lou Dreiling, Cordelia DiSantis, Daryle Billinger, and Jackie Black, and is survived by his sister, Shirley Gross and brother Jim Billinger.
Loran was proud of his Volga German heritage and treasured childhood memories of summers at his grandmother's house. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Carmela Conde, whom he met in a charming twist of fate. Their enduring love story began with a shared Coca-Cola and culminated in an inseparable bond that spanned decades. They married in Brighton, Colorado on November 3, 1973, and later renewed their vows in Las Vegas, NV, in 2006.
Loran and Carmela raised three accomplished children, Lisa Conde, Tara Billinger, and Bradford Billinger. They instilled values of citizenship and compassion, always putting family first. He is also survived by his grandchild, Monti Greer.
Loran was a proud graduate of West High School, where he lettered in golf. His love for the sport was sparked by his close friend, Mike Whorton, and it quickly became his first love. He built lasting friendships with Mike Whorton and Gary Jackson over their passion for sports. After serving as a Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, he received a Sharpshooter Medal, a National Defense Metal, and 2 Vietnam Metals. Loran then worked as a truck driver and warehouse worker for over 30 years before retiring in 2004. Following his retirement, he found joy working part-time at the award-winning Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and dedication, Loran was deeply loved by his family, friends, and colleagues. He passed peacefully, holding onto his faith in God and the promise of reuniting with his loved ones. In honor of Loran, let's live our lives fully as he would have wanted.
