grew fond of each other and married after Leonard returned from boot camp on September 14, 1946—his birthday.
Helen had two daughters. The first “Angel” was stillborn. Her second daughter was named Carol.
Helen’s dream was to become a teacher or pilot, but she chose to be a homemaker—an exceptional wife and mother. Helen volunteered at St. Therese Church in Aurora, Colorado, for many years. She spent
her evenings making rosaries, washing, sewing, and ironing the church’s linens, and baking cakes for funerals.
Throughout Helen’s life her favorite treasures were the large variety of homemade gifts, many which were small animals consisting of mostly squirrels and bears. Also school papers, jewelry, books, cards,
hidden notes and many more mementos most of which were made by her grandchildren. These things were her “valuables,” and as she said, “The fact that they were given with love makes them my real
treasures.”
Helen gave of herself her whole life. She was a “true angel.” Her greatest wish was that every person in the world would come to know God and believe that faith can move mountains if given a chance.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Beverlin; her daughter, Carol Ryerson; and her sister, Louise Roy. She is survived by her brother, Donald Strict; her son-in-law, Richard Ryerson; her
grandchildren, Shanna, Sean, Shelah, Simon, and Sarah; and many great-grandchildren, plus great-great-grandchildren.
I will end this with a quote from Helen:
“I try to be happy all of the time, and you try to be happy all of the time, too. Nothing is so good that you cannot find better, except for Heaven, of course. I love you all so very, very much. Love, Grandma,
Great-Grandma, and Great-Great-Grandma.” XOXOXOXO
