Grayson Hebard Gowen passed on March 3, 2013. He was born October 27, 1936 to Walter and Lee Gowen in Portland, Oregon. Grayson and family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming during grade school. He attended Cheyenne High School where he had a dixieland band and played at several activities; Grayson graduated from high school in 1954. He then attended Northwestern University receiving a bachelors in Anthropology. Grayson served three years in the U.S. Army and following his service graduated with a degree in theology from Iliff Seminary in Denver. He served Presbyterian Churches in Cedar City, Utah, Rocky Ford, Colorado and Riverton, Wyoming. He loved to p[lay the trumpet and was a member of the Castle Rock City Band, where he resided. Reading was also his passion, along with love for his congregations.
He is survived by wife Marie, of 53 years, whom he married in Fukuoka, Japan; son Todd Gowen; three grandchildren: Tessa, Kayla and Emma Gowen; and brother Walter Kirby Gowen. Grayson is preceded in death by his parents and son Kirk F. Gowen.
