I was fortunate to meet Carol 9 years ago after moving to Colorado. She was always so warm and kind hearted and so loved by her family.  We shared many holidays and birthdays together with Carol, Denae and Carols brother Ron. We will treasure those memories and our hearts are with her family💕

Of course, one page does not adequately sum up one’s life, but here is the short version of Corkey’s life:
Our family are long-time natives of the area, her great-grandmother came to Colorado in a covered wagon in in the late 1880's.  She was born in house on 34th and Downing, grew up in Aurora, and enjoyed the Colorado lifestyle.  She loved to water ski, downhill ski, ice skate, square dance, fish and spend time in our spectacular mountains.   She married Robert "Bob" Hart in 1963 and they had two children, Lance and Denea.  Bob's life and their marriage was cut way too short, as he was killed in a car accident in 1974.   A couple years later, she decided to reinvent herself by attended cosmetology school, and later became an instructor.  This helped her blossom into her own person (outside of being an single mother and widow) and she yearned to expand her interests.  She joined a community theater group and over the next several years participated in every aspect of the organization.  She started with hair and make-up, moved on to building sets, helped with sound and lighting, and later acted in and directed productions.  She also held a number of board positions, and developed life-long friendships along the way. Her career shifted to the retail side of the beauty business, where she was managed several stores for various companies.  She was a leader in this field and won numerous awards.  Once she mastered her role in this industry, she decided to reinvent herself once again, and transitioned into human services.  She had always wanted to work with disadvantaged and/or individuals with special needs.  She became a CNA for Wheatridge Regional Home, working with adults with developmental disabilities.  Again, she excelled in this industry, and was frequently asked to take leadership positions.  She declined, stating her heart belonged with the clients, and she remained in this role until her retirement.  She often joked about being told retirement would “kill” her

I worked with "Corky" for many years at Sally Beauty. 
I watched her grow the business and win many awards.
I am thankful to have known her and call her a friend.
My thoughts and prayers to her family at this time.

Corkey painted Winnie the Pooh murals on Her Goddaughter's wall. As she was attempting to finish I went into labor with Meredith.  Corkey yelled  words at me I'd never heard come out of her mouth! Meredith was 7 weeks early & I didn't believe i was in labor! She was a wonderful friend who never judged  & was always supportive. I couldn't have picked a better Godmother for Meredith. I will miss her chuckle. Rest in peace my dear friend.
