Abel Yohannes was born August 16, 1992 to Semere & Freweini in Denver, Colorado where he was raised along with his 5 siblings Almaz, Selam, Filmon, Rahel and Rosa. He grew up in Ruby Hill where he was well known and loved by all the neighborhood kids. You could always count on him to put a smile on your face. Abel was fearless, adventurous, clever, charming, and was known to pull a prank or two. He later moved to Aurora with his family where he was a well known fixture at Expo park. He loved to spend his days hanging out with friends and playing basketball. He lived a portion of his formative years in his parents' birth country Eritrea where he lived with his aunts and uncles. He had an appreciation for the finer things in life, and his entrepreneurial spirit developed from a young age. He had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and music. He was always singing along to slow songs, off key, but with passion. Later, through a mutual friend, he met Jessica and they got married February 19, 2019. With his wife, he also gained three wonderful sons, Cameron, Dez and Noah. Abel loved the boys and quickly embraced his role as a father. He would always make the boys breakfast, and they bonded while he would cut their hair. Together they enjoyed going on car rides, shopping at the mall, and practicing basketball drills. He loved going to Cameron's basketball games and cheering him on from the stands. Not only was he a great father, he was also an amazing uncle who loved to play games like Uno, Connect Four, Poker and Chess with his nieces and nephews. Abel was never in one place too long; he was always on the go but loved surprise pop-ups on people. Though his visits were unexpected, they were always appreciated. Abel is survived by his parents, Semere and Freweini, his sisters, Almaz, Selam, Rahel and Rosa, his brother, Filmon, his wife Jessica, and his sons, Cameron, Dez, and Noah. Abel, we are devastated that you are no longer here with us, but the moments we shared will forever be in our hearts. Although your time here on earth was short, we thank God for the 30 years He blessed us with you here in our lives. Our love goes with you and our souls wait to join you.
“Your presence I miss, your memory I treasure,
