Terry Brown

We celebrate the life of Master Sergeant Terry Brown, a husband, brother, father, uncle, cousin serviceman who accomplished greatness in his life through his goodness and service to others and his county.

On June 4, 1956, his mother gave him a brown paper bag as he was about to leave home and said, you have three sandwiches as he left Wrens, Georgia to join the Air Force, NEVER throw this bag away because the sandwiches will last you through your life journey. He said to himself, these fried spam sandwiches will not last to Atlanta; however, curiosity got the best of him, he took them out of the bag. One was marked, “HOPE”, the second, “FAITH”, and lastly “LOVE”. He chose LOVE and his life of service to his fellowman began to proceed on its course.

He was awarded THE BRONZE STAR METAL, by the United States Air Force, an honor for meritorious achievement authorized by the President of the United States on August 24, 1962.

The Air Force Commendation Medal, April 6, 1972, September 1972 and April 25, 1978.

Retirement from the United States Air Force – July 1, 1978

After Master Sergeant Terry Brown’s formal military service, he continued to serve. He worked with students at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Palms, CA where he was the Electronic Integration Communications Shop Supervisor.

He received the following awards:

• United States Marines Corps: Certificate of Commendation, January 20, 1993

• Department of the Navy – Logistics Certificate of Commendation, October 1, 1993 – August 1994

• Department of the Navy – United States Marines Corps, July 1995 – June 1996

• The Career Service Award, February 3, 1997 from Secretary of Navy

Published in the High Desert Flyer newspaper, The 35th Tactical Fighter Wings nomination for the TAC Maintenance Man Safety Award was given to Technical Sergeant Terry Brown, 35th Avionics Maintenance Squadron for his superb maintenance ability, devotion to duty and outstanding supervisory ability.

He had been instrumental in saving the life of two passengers he witnessed on I-40 in an accident. He was also given credit for reduction in cost for Weapons Control Systems and non-utilized equipment.

Master Sergeant Terry Brown was proceeded in death by his parents Hubert Brown and Rosie Mae Brown, sisters: Heorlin Brown, Rosella Brown, Bertha L. Petett, Hubert Marie Lucky, Linda Joyce Brown; brothers: Judson Brown, Freddie E. Brown. He leaves his devoted and loving wife Anneliese Brown, daughters: Merchell Jones, Kimberly Brown, sisters: Rosalyn B. Fuller, Evelyn Lewis, Lillian Blaylock, grandsons, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
