my father was at fort jackson with mr silas in 1952. clyde r overbay, dad used to tell stories about silas,dad played music and i think they wrote a song together,anyway my father passed away in oct.5 2009. kingsport times news,i also called  your father on the phone  and he sang a song to me that he and dad sang. seems like he was alot like my father.god bless you

Hale is missed so much. He has always just been there for everyone and it's sad that he's no longer right around the corner.  He's in a much better place in Heaven and at Ethel's side. He missed her so much after she passed away.  He was much more than an uncle. He always made us laugh and was available any time we needed him. We'll see him again one day :o)

I am sorry to hear of Mr.Hale's passing. Our neighborhood will be so different not seeing him in the many yards he took care of so meticulously. I remember when he had the two goats in his yard and they ate Mrs. Hale rose bushes.

Back in the old days of the neighborhood; my late husband used to talk with Mr. Hale and both exchanged war stories. They both were talkers.

To the Hale family it was a great pleasure meeting Mr. Hale he was a kind hearted man he always had a smile on his face. I met him over a year ago at Goshen Elementary school, He told us his war stories he made us all laugh and smile. He will be greatly missed!

We were fortunate to meet Mr. Hale at Goshen Elementary "grandparents" picking up grandchildren. Sitting at the picnic table listening to some of his stories, how he would make everyone laugh.  He was a kind and joyful man, and we are so sorry for your lost, he will be missed.

Extending our sincere condolences to the entire Hale family.  We are fortunate to have met Mr. Hale during his short stay in Kentucky.  We know that he will be missed by many, but will live on in the memories of all those who were blessed to have known him.  God Bless All.

I had the pleasure of working with "Hale" for many years at Augusta Chemical Company and have many good memories of him including all of the stories he told!  I was just talking about him and one of his stories the other day during lunch with coworkers.  I am a better person by knowing him as well as Ethel.  Praying for God to be with you during your time of loss.

Uncle Silas was my mothers twin.  I loved him deeply and will always have wonderful memories of him.  He was the perfect uncle to me.

So sorry for your loss. Uncle Silas will be missed by many and he was loved dearly by all whom knew him. Sorry won't be able to attend funeral,but my Alabama prayers are with you all.
