Joe Henry Jones

Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 12pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Rd, Augusta, GA with Pastor Phillip Hamilton officiating. Interment will be private.

Born in Florence, AL, he was the son of the late Leander Jones and Laurene Brewer. He retired from the Army after 20 years of service. After his retirement he went to work for Augusta State Medical Prison where he retired after 13 years of service. Joe enjoyed fishing, spending time with his wife and grand babies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Brewer, Artie Jones, and sister, Laurene Beasley. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Susan Goble Jones, children, Eryka Smith, Fort Stewart, GA; Megan Wright, Hephzibah, GA; Kaitlyn (Robert) Moore, Fort Campbell, KY; Joe Jones, Jr. Philadelphia, PA; Tracy Harry, Philadelphia, PA; step children, Kelly Deleon, Carol Barrett, both of Philadelphia, PA, brother, Curtis Jones, grandchildren, Ayanna Smith, Aliya Smith, Victor Smith, Jr., Arion Martin, Aiden Moore, Henry Moore, and Payton Golden.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, 2013, from 11am until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Wounded Worriers, Augusta Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Road, Suite 5-333, Martinez, GA, 30907-0410.
