Gerald David Henry

Mr. Gerald David Henry, Seymour, TN formerly of Augusta, GA Mr. Gerald David Henry passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at his home in Seymour, Tennessee. Henry, as everyone referred to him, had a tremendous passion for football. He graduated from Maury High School in Dandridge, TN in 1958 where he played football for 4 years and proudly lettered. After graduation, he joined the United States Army where he received 3 Bronze Stars during Vietnam and later retired after 21 years of dedicated service. Henry went on to pursue a career with the Veterans Administration, retiring after 20 years of service. He loved his church family at Lumpkin Road Baptist and reminiscing of the good ole' football days. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Marian Burnley Henry; his parents, Clarence and Mamie Henry; brothers, Joseph and James Henry; and his sister who raised him from the age of 5 days old, Louise Osborne. He is survived by his sons, David (Melissa) Henry, Hai (Huong) Henry and Troy Henry; daughters, Linda (Linh) Henry, Debra (Dale) Thompson and Donna (Steve) Watkins; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; niece, Jane Ellen (Bill) Worth; best friend since High School, Scott Hannah; and his precious four legged companions, Megan and Java. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Lumpkin Road Baptist Church with Pastors Don Stone and Eddie Chavis and Dr. Danny Burnley officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Members of Calvary Sunday School Class, Jeff Inman and Will Turner will serve as pallbearers.
