Barbara Hope Swearingen was born at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia to the proud parents David Swearingen and Sara Ann Luke. She loved being a big sister to Michael Swearingen who she referred to as “Mikey”. Hope attended St Andrews Parish High School in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated from Paul Mitchell cosmetology school. Where she went to win many National hair cutting competitions. Her happiest moment was when she became a mother with the birth of her little girl, Angel Marie Alexander. Hope loved to dance and favorited the Shag. She loved the Lord and studied the bible scriptures throughout her life. Hope always remained true to herself and never pretended to be someone she wasn’t. To know her was to love her. There was never a dull moment. She will be most remembered for her witty personality and the laughter she brought with southern expressions and good advice.
Barbara is preceded in death by her loving parents David Swearingen and Sara Ann Hammack. She is survived by her devoted companion Randall Aull; daughter Angel Marie Alexander future son in law (Eric Enes); her brother Michael(Katherine) Swearingen; Niece Elizabeth Swearingen; Nephews John Michael Swearingen and Vaughan (Alyssa) Swearingen; Step-Father Rod Hammack; extended family Steven Graves and her many friends –whom she dearly loved.
On August 12, 2024 Hope went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was reunited with her best friend and favorite Angel her mama. In honor of her memory we invite you to join us Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2 pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road Augusta, Georgia 30906.
