James D. Purvis Sr.

James served in the United States Army for 3 years. After serving his country he went on to work as an Operator for Roadway Maintenance of Polk County until his retirement. James was a member of Griffin Baptist Church and above all loved the Lord and his family.

James is preceded in death by John Purvis, Vivian Griffin, David Purvis, George Purvis, Shirley Purvis, Dora Purvis and James R. Purvis. He is survived by his sister Deborah Purvis-Burke of Palm Harbor, FL, brother Charles Purvis (Janeane) of Lakeland, FL, brother Emmet Purvis of Canton, NC, daughter Lori Conlin (Bruce) of Auburndale, FL, son James Darrell Purvis Jr. of Lake Worth Beach, FL, daughter Patricia Messner (Kevin) of LeHigh Acres, FL, son Darren Alexander Purvis (Brittany) of Newark, OH, and daughter Kirabella Marie Rose of Lakeland, FL.

A visitation for James will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Griffin Baptist Church, 3225 Kathleen Rd, Lakeland, Florida 33810 with a funeral service to begin at 10:00 AM. A graveside service with military honors will occur Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
