Richard Kammeyer

Passed away October 18, 2010. Dick was born September 10, 1922. His parents were Fred and Frankie Kammeyer (who preceded him in death). He attended school in the Dierenger and Sumner area and graduated from Sumner High School in 1940. He was in the US Army during WWII. He worked for Heisserman, Valley Land, Segale and ICON. In retirement he continued to be a Consultant with ICON. He was a member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church and served on many committees over the years. .

He married Marian McMullen in 1948 and they spent 60+ wonderful years together until Marian’s passing in January of 2009. He is survived by his son Richard B. Kammeyer (Julie), daughter Lianne Sanders (Gary), grandchildren Jeff Kammeyer, Danny Allen, Erin Kammeyer, Casey Allen, Morgan Sanders, step-grandchildren Carley Morris and Nick Morris, sister-in-law Pat Graybeal (Ken) and numerous nephews & nieces.

Dick was involved in the community all of his adult life. He served on the Auburn School Board, Auburn City Council and presently on the Civil Service Commission over Fireman and Police. He received the “Pioneer Spirit Award” in 2006 and was “Hometown Hero for the City of Auburn”, participated in the VFW Parade, and belonged to many clubs over the years – Chamber, Rotary and presently Lions Club.

Dick enjoyed his family and friends – grandkids, haircuts and ball games. He also loved boating, fishing, camping, and trips in his Motor Home.

He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Auburn First United Methodist Church, 100 “N” St. S.E., Auburn, WA 98002, or to Auburn Area Fire Medic Fund, VRFA Station 31, 1101 “D” St. N.E., Auburn, WA 98002-4025.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29th from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at Price-Helton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30th at the Auburn High School Performing Arts Center at 1:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Price – Helton Funeral Home.
