Carl Ray Goodman

Carl “Ray” Goodman went home to the Lord on November 28 at the age of 89. Ray was born in Gainesville, Florida in 1923. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and served his country until his retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1962. Ray then went to school to become a barber and operated a shop in the Richmond Beach area until his retirement in 1992.

Ray’s focus in life was his love of the Lord and his family. He loved people and reaching out to find a common ground to celebrate life with each person. Even in his final days in the hospital, he found a way to make new friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart, Norene, in 2005 and his beloved son-in-law, Bill Norgren, in 2007. He is survived by his three daughters, Dixie Norgren of Buckley; Priscilla (Allen) Bostwick of Spokane; and Sandra (Dan) Rollins of Auburn. He leaves four granddaughters, Natalie (Nathan) Kalal; Sarah J. Rollins; Emily Bostwick; and Norene (Jacob) Osborne; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sons, Carl (Sheila) Goodman, Jr. and William (Becky) Goodman; both of Maryland, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Ruth Thompson, of Gainesville.

He was a member of Genesis Masonic Lodge, Nile Shrine, and the Scottish Rite of Everett.

There will be a celebration of Ray’s life at Calvary Community Church in Sumner, Washington on December 14th at 11:00 a.m. A private interment at Tahoma National Cemetery in Maple Valley will take place later in December. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please donate to the food pantry at Calvary Community Church or your local food bank.
