He was born on July 30, 1940 in New York City, NY a son of the late Barton and Julia (Satterthwaite) Law. Walter served three years in the Navy and went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in Education. He taught elementary school within the Monmouth School Department for 25 years. While at Monmouth he coached the chess team which won many state championships. He was an active member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, where he served for many years as a Deacon and church elder. . He was passionate about cycling, photography, and learning new things. He enjoyed playing chess, listening to folk music, and going to the movies. He was a lover of all animals and loved to watch his two cats Leo and Boots race around the house.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Linda Law of Auburn, a son Edward Law of Boston, Massachusetts and a daughter, Megan Shaw and her husband Tom of Framingham, Massachusetts.

Visiting hours will be held at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church before the ceremony from 12-2:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony at 2pm also at the church.
