Augusta- Richard "Dick" P. Faucher, 57, died Sunday August 21, 2011, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston on November 5, 1953 a son of Edward and Anna (Butteau) Faucher. He was educated in Auburn, and graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1972. He then went on to Graduate from the University of Maine at Orono, Class of 1976. He studied mathematics and education. Dick worked for the state of Maine as a Property Tax Assessor for 25 years.
He recently celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with Barda Leavitt. Dick was very physically active and enjoyed basketball, frisbee golf, hiking, and racquet ball. In later years, when health issues prevented him from participating in these activities, he enjoyed playing cribbage, chess, and scrabble; as well as solving crosssums. Throughout his life, he loved listening to a wide range of music, being at the ocean, and watching science fiction shows; especially Star Trek. Dick was very proud and devoted to his family. He loved spending time with them. Dick was blessed with a gift of quick wit, and could easily produce laughter regardless of the audience. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He leaves his wife Barda Leavitt of Augusta, his son Joseph Faucher a Ph. D. student at Yale University, his mother Anna Faucher of Lewiston, a brother Raymond Faucher of Lewiston, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Edward Faucher.
