AUBURN: Raymond Lapierre, 81, of Auburn passed away Friday afternoon at his home following a long illness with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston on August 23, 1932 a son of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Berube) Lapierre. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. Raymond was a veteran in the United States Army and served during the Korean conflict. He also worked for several years as a hand sewer for Billing Shoe. He was a member of the American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn and will always be remembered for being a very hard worker, a great family provider, having a great sense of humor and always ready to tell a good joke. Ray enjoyed camping in his younger years and following the Red Sox. He is survived by his three children Michael and Gerald Lapierre of Lewiston and Theresa Lapierre of Georgia. He also leaves behind his six grandchildren; Courtney, Chad, Ashley, Shayla, Morgan and Dylan. He was predeceased by his wife Pauline, two sons Robert and Richard Lapierre, two brothers Tony and Roger and a sister Yolande. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on Saturday May 31 at 11am. Committal prayers will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Lewiston with military honors.
