Pamela Alice Culleton, 69, of Auburn, departed this world and entered the gates of Heaven on February 2, 2024. Surrounded by her loving family, she succumbed to a lengthy and heroic battle with cancer. Her legacy may be summed up by simply saying she loved God, and she loved others more than herself.
Pam was born in Lewiston on September 3, 1954, the first child of eight born to Roger and Irene Culleton.
Pam graduated Edward Little High School and received a full scholarship to attend the Hannah Harrison School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. where she learned to become what she was born to be, a highly caring and competent nurse. Upon completion of nursing school, she returned to Auburn and in 1979, she joined Dr. David Walter, who called Pam his “go-to person” as he began his fledgling pediatric practice, which grew exponentially over the years and later became Central Maine Pediatrics.
To countless families in the Lewiston-Auburn area, Pam was their first phone call whenever a child became ill. Caring for children was her calling in life, and many of those children grew up under her care and later brought their own children to see her. Retired after her unrivaled career in nursing, Pam continued to serve and support the youth in this area in multiple areas, from local school sports to the Auburn Recreation Department. Her chili was legendary and sold out at every event.
Pam was a great fan of not only her own son and grandsons, she was a fan of many others, and was known as “Nan” by many young people whom she adored. She rejoiced with them for their successes and grieved with them for their losses. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, fellowship with friends, and most of all; she looked for opportunities to pour her life into the lives of other people. To her many nieces and nephews, she was known as “Naunie,” and spoiled them endlessly with thoughtful gifts, baking cookies and of course, her famous peanut butter fudge.
She is survived by her son, Jason Culleton and his partner Janie Smith, her beloved grandsons, Austin S. Culleton, Carter D. Culleton, and Zackery M. Smith; her mother Irene B. Culleton, brothers Michael R. Culleton, Marty T. Culleton, Kevin S. Culleton and Todd C. Culleton, and sister Kerri S. Taylor.
She was predeceased by her father, Roger T. Culleton, sister, Vicki L. Short, and brother, Randy A. Culleton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11 am at the East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave., Auburn, ME.
