Lloyd A. Dunn, age 78 of Auburn, passed away peacefully May 1st at the Androscoggin Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Poland, Maine, June 10, 1933, son of Kenneth and Inez Gould Dunn on the original family homestead. He was educated in Poland and Auburn schools. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Southern Maine. Mr. Dunn was a Cartographer/Illustrator for the original Maine State Highway Commission before becoming a teacher. He taught school at Montello and Lewiston Junior High Schools for eleven years and nineteen years at Lewiston High School. In this capacity he taught in several industrial areas most notably architecture, general drafting and photography. He was also a member of several educational organizations and served as the President of the Maine Association for Industrial Education in 1969-70. From 1982 through 2000, he had a videotaping business. He retired from teaching in 1994 and has been involved in doing Genealogy since. Growing up on farms, Mr. Dunn acquired an early interest in things mechanical. His hobbies, besides drawing, reading and photography, were antique automobiles. He was an active member of several nationwide automobile clubs having held many positions regionally and nationally and was instrumental in forming regions for both the Nash Car Club and Kaiser-Frazer Clubs. Above all, Mr. Dunn loved to be with his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. In recent years he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many and varied activities. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Hatch) who he married September 1, 1962, and three daughters, Pamela and husband Stephen Bosse of Fairfield, ME, Patricia and husband Timothy Colwell of Midlothian, VA, and Natalie and husband Peter Koziell of Methuen, MA and one son, Steven and wife Elizabeth Dunn of Auburn. Five grandchildren; Bryan Bosse, Abigail and Spencer Dunn, and Christian and Courtney Colwell, Three sisters, Mavis (Jack) Duffy of Halifax, MA and Naples, FL, Roberta (Robert) Bird of Rockland, MA, and Maxine (Judson) Downie of Auburn. Many nephews and nieces as well as many cousins. He leaves behind many long time auto club friends scattered throughout the United States and Canada. He was predeceased by his parents and a number of cousins. He also leaves many lifetime friends who he loved very much, and awaits them in heaven.
