Joan was born August 17, 1931, in Rumford, Maine where she grew up. She also spent time in Detroit, Michigan and Plattsburgh, New York, but moved back to Maine to raise her five children in the Bath/ Brunswick area. She later settled in the town of Lisbon, where she spent her last 25 years.
She greatly valued both family and friends, and she had a great sense of humor. No matter what challenges she faced in her life, she always kept a positive attitude. She was a patriot. She strongly supported our military and our first responders. She was an avid reader and was devoted to praying the Rosary. She joked that she attended mass with the Pope, daily in Rome, via channel EWTN on her television.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was a wonderful mother who loved to cook for her family and to make sure everyone was well cared for. She took great pride in all her children and several generations of their offspring. She lived vicariously through each one of them. She supported them in their challenges and enjoyed discussing tales of their travels and adventures.
Joan is predeceased by her daughter, Cathy Heath; grandsons, Michael Paul and Robert Roy; and granddaughter, Michelle Yap South.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Mannie, and family in San Diego, CA; her son, Stephen Michael Parrott, and family in Lewiston, Maine; her daughter, Linda Emerson, and family in Houston, Texas; and her daughter, Janey Rivard, and family in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 10 to 11 am on Monday, April 3, followed by the funeral at 11 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 67 Frost Hill Ave, Lisbon Falls, ME 04252.
