It is with deep sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Brian R. Lowe, who left this world on April 15, 2025, at the age of 75. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Brian will be remembered for his boundless energy, generous heart, and the unmistakable sound of a motor revving nearby.
Brian was born on August 13, 1949, in Lewiston, Maine, and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1968. He went on to attend Bliss College in Lewiston, furthering his education before pursuing a career that reflected his hands-on skills and lifelong passion for mechanics and motors.
From a young age, Brian had a passion for anything with an engine. Motorcycles, cars, boats, snowmobiles — if it had a motor, Brian loved it. He was an avid skier and motorcyclist, forever chasing adventure whether on the open road or the slopes. His garage was his sanctuary, and his talent for bringing machines back to life earned him the nickname “Mr. Fix It.” There wasn’t a project too big or a problem too stubborn for Brian to tackle.
Prior to his years at Bath Iron Works, Brian worked in the motorcycle and powersports industry, holding multiple roles in sales and service at Schott Motorcycle Supply and Harley's R U.S. in Lewiston. It was more than just work to Brian — it was a way to stay close to what he loved, surrounded by good people, great stories, and the roar of engines. His knowledge of motorcycles and powersports equipment was unmatched, and his easy rapport made him a trusted face in the local motorsports community.
Brian later dedicated 22 years of his career to Bath Iron Works, where he worked in a variety of roles, including maintenance, pipe fitting, and insulating. His leadership and dedication led him to serve as a shop steward, proudly advocating for his coworkers and forging lasting friendships. He retired in 2011, leaving behind not just a strong work ethic but a legacy of integrity, kindness, and camaraderie.
He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, cherishing the brotherhood and community service it represented.
Outside of work and the garage, Brian’s love for the outdoors and adrenaline carried him to ski slopes in winter and long rides in warmer months. His adventurous spirit, easygoing nature, and sharp sense of humor made him a friend to many and a favorite at every gathering.
As a father, Brian was a steady, loving, and supportive presence. He shared his skills, his humor, and his wisdom with his family, teaching by example how to work hard, laugh often, and live life on your own terms.
Brian is survived by his sons, Jarred and Jeremy; his daughter-in-law, Lynn; and his cherished grandson, Jaxon. He also leaves behind Donald and Brenda Leighton, Frank and Linda Swan, Cheryl Levesque, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who became family along the way and will carry his memory with them always.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cheryl Levesque, sister-in-law, for her extraordinary dedication, care, and support to Brian throughout the last several months. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering presence meant the world to Brian and his family, and her loving care brought comfort and peace during difficult days.
He was predeceased by his parents, Richard W. Lowe and Elizabeth Newell Lowe, and his wife, Paula Leighton Lowe.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 9 at 11 AM in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner St. Auburn, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable man he was and the lasting imprint he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his name to Shriner Children’s, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
Brian lived life in the fast lane, with a tool in his hand, snow on his boots, and the open road ahead. His memory will forever ride with us.
