Ella Jean Graham, age 90, of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on April 28, 1934 and graduated from Avondale High School. Ella married Hugh J. Graham on November 5, 1955 who passed away in 1975 just before their 20th anniversary.
Ella became a mom and homemaker for her three children. She took great pride in taking care of her son Jamie from his birth to the present day. In her spare time, Ella supported her husband in the founding of the Oakland County Association of Retarded Citizens, which is now known nationwide as The ARC.
Ella taught Sunday School at The Old Stone Baptist Church in Rochester Hills (the building is still there today). She had a 40 year passion for bowling where she participated in yearly leagues until she turned 70. She enjoyed listening to country and gospel music. Traveling with family and friends was what she loved the most. Family reunions were attended for many years in Ohio. Later in life, memorable trips to Branson, Missouri for the shows, Las Vegas to visit family, and her trips to Hawaii held a special place in her heart. After she became a grandmother, she was known for taking her grandchildren on getaways to Frankenmuth so that the kids could stay at a hotel and swim in the pool.
Ella is survived by her three children: James Graham, Mark Graham, and Laura (Mark) Goldston; three grandchildren: Trevor Graham, Joshua Goldston, and Emily Goldston; and one great-grandson, Joshua Graham, who she was able to meet on her 90th birthday.
A visitation for Ella will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 10:00 am - Noon at Pixley Funeral Home in Auburn Hills, Michigan, located at 3530 Auburn Road, followed by a funeral service at Noon.
