Ruth Meredith Lang was born on October 18, 1926 in Tilden, Nebraska. She graduated from high school in 1943. She began teaching in a small country school student she went to school with. Shortly after teaching she worked in a Tilden bank.
Ruth and her long time sweetheart, Tom Osborn, were married on September 6, 1946 after he was discharged from the Navy at the end of WWII.
Ruth was a fabulous wife and mother. She devoted her life to raising her three children. She loved taking care of her home, cooking, gardening, and sewing. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her two daughters and doll clothes for her grandchildren. She also had a good time making crafts with her grandchildren. Later in her life, she loved to china paint and gave them as gifts to her family.
Being the caring person that Ruth was, she volunteered to be a “Lady in White” for the South Placer Fire Department. She actually drove the ambulance.
Ruth also helped open the Citrus Heights Beauty College for a longtime friend. She was the receptionist for several years, and everyone loved her.
Once her children were on their own, Tom, Ruth, and their daughter, Cindy toured Europe with friends by motorcycle. Tom and Ruth were also very active in the Auburn Vintage Chevy Club.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Tom; daughter, Nancy; daughter, Cindy; son, Kelley; 6 grandchildren and 11.5 great grandchildren who brought great joy to her life.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 11:00 am at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Auburn Elks lodge #1691, 195 Pine Street, Auburn, CA 95603.
