Mr. Raul Cadena, or “Grandpa”, as many people knew him, was born in El Paso, Texas. He was raised in Texas for some time, and across the border, in Ciudad Juarez. Ciudad Juarez is where he met a young Dominga Luz. They soon married and she stayed behind while Raul set out on his journey due west to find a place to make a life for the young couple. After walking and hitchhiking many miles, he ended up in Northern California. After some trying times, Raul returned for his bride and took her to California where they started their family of 4 sons and 4 daughters. This was the foundation of his beautiful family. Raul supported his family by working for over a decade at the Southern Pacific Railroad (?). He then transitioned to an operator at Western Craft. That is where he bought his brand new Chevy truck, CASH—a big accomplishment, after buying a house and being the sole provider for his family.
After retirement, Raul stayed active at home. He was always on the move, either doing home improvements or keeping up with his property. Unfortunately, it was around this time he lost his wife, but his family continued to grow. From having 8 children, he became a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and even 7 great- great- grandchildren. Raul was fortunate enough to find love again. He found Ana, his life partner, with whom he spent his golden years. Nothing brought him more joy than having friends and family fill his home with stories and laughter, creating cherished memories.
Raul Bravo Cadena will be missed dearly, but memories of his smile, and infectious laugh will be remembered for a long time by all who were lucky enough to meet him and those that were fortunate enough to be related to him.
