Martha C Lewis

She was born on October 6, 1932 in Ophir, California. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Vargas, and her husband of 53 years, Manuel Lewis.

She is survived by her loving sister Janice Vargas, brother-in-law Joe Vargas, sons Manuel (Frank) Lewis and Matthew Lewis, daughter-in-law Sheryse Lewis, grandchildren Wade, Elaina, Mason, and Nolan, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Martha was a Placer County resident for her whole life and was a school teacher at Ophir Elementary for 33 years. She was an active member of numerous Portuguese Societies, the Newcastle Portuguese Hall Association, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Martha touched many lives and was dearly loved by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who were honored to know her and who loved her.

A Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 27th, 2018 at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA, at 6:00p.m. The memorial mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Friday, September 28th, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Church, 1162 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA, with reception to follow. Private graveside service will be held at New Auburn Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Newcastle Portuguese Hall Association, PO Box 162, Loomis, CA, 95650, St. Joseph’s Parish in Auburn, or a charitable organization of your choice.
