Jesus Ponce was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 23, 1929 and passed in Auburn, California on June 8, 2013. Jesus is survived by his wife, Susana, of 61 years along with his loving family and siblings; sisters, Mary, Marge, Lucy, Elaine and brothers, Audencio and Arnulfo; his seven children, Gloria, Jose, Fernando, Ruby, Jesse, Rita and Andrew; also grandchildren, Johnnie, Ramona, Louis, Shane and Michelle; and one great grandchild, Ciana.
Jesus Ponce served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1970, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and discharged honorably. His assignments in the Air Force included tours in Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Greenland, England, and Ecuador. His decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal (2), Air Force Outstanding Unit, Air Force Good Conduct, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service, Vietnam Service, Air Force Longevity Service, Small Arms Expert, and United Nations Service. Jesus worked for the US Postal Service for 15 years before retiring to county life, farming, and coaching children in soccer and Cub Scouts in Penryn, California. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA. Burial with full military honors will be on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 510 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.
