Guisippina and Bernardino Cottini welcomed their daughter, Jean Mary Ferraris
on October 21, 1924 in the beautiful town of McCloud California. Nestled at the foot
of Mount Shasta, The McCloud River Rail Road and Lumber Company provided all
that was needed for a happy childhood.
Jean attended school and graduated from the McCloud High School. Soon after
graduation around the time of “The War” she applied, was hired and worked in The
McCloud General Store. She worked in the hardware department of the Company
Store until she was married. She married Battista (Bob) Ferraris upon his return from
Japan after the war.
She was an energetic partner when building a home in Mount Shasta, California.
This neighboring City, only 12 miles from McCloud allowed the opportunity of home
ownership and a place to raise her daughters.
Jean’s long life of ninety-nine years, eleven months and five days produced two
daughters, Gail and Denise, three grandchildren, Erin, Gina and Daniel and two great
grandchildren, Abigail and Eric.
Her active community involvement with art and education touched many, many
lives. She loved people. She was a member of the local Beta Sigma Phi. Her artistic
spirit led her through many phases of art expression and accomplishment. Her love
of people led her to her small private pre-school. She treasured her memories of her
students.
Jean’s final fourteen years were spent enjoying travel, friends, family and new
experiences.
She will be missed by all who loved and enjoyed her humor, company and spirit.
