Donald Edward Rhodes

September 25th 1933 - February 24th 2013

After a five-year battle with cancer, a seven-year defiance of Alzheimer’s and a miraculous return from kidney failure, Don passed away on February 24th in his own bed, with a grace and dignity that mercifully belied the battles that he waged within himself over the past decade of his life. To say Don was strong willed, would be a gross understatement and conjure an image that could only be described as completely inadequate in terms of how strong a man he truly was. In the complete absence of more adequate words that could suitably portray the person he was, it is suitable to say that he was a good and caring man that always endeavored to do the right thing.

The world is a better place because of him and will not be the same without him.

A Rosary will take place Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7:30 pm at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Road, Auburn, CA 95603, with Funeral services held at Saint Teresa’s on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 1:00pm, to be followed by a celebration of life at Don’s home after the ceremony.
